| Ok So we use VoIP in our Asian offices and this would be extremely handy, however does this support Avaya VoIP - Ipswitch quote "The WhatsUp Gold VoIP Monitor accesses information generated by Cisco IP SLA (service level agreement) enabled devices to monitor jitter, packet loss, latency and other calculated VoIP performance values."
So I assume it doesn't. Does anyone know if they plan to support Avaya VoIP? |

| The IP SLA protocol is independent from the VoIP technology you use. IP SLA is supported in most mid to high-end Cisco routers as part of the IOS software. I'm not specifically aware of any non-Cisco vendors that support IP SLA, but that doesn't mean none actually exist.
In theory, an organization with two IP SLA-enabled routers (you need at least two to gauge the service level) who had no VoIP technology could still monitor their equipment using the VoIP Monitor. But, typically, the purpose of IP SLA monitoring is to let you know what expected call quality will be over a VoIP phone system.
Have a good one, Christian Lawson QA Engineer - Network Monitoring Ipswitch, Inc. |

| Hi,
I need some information regarding the VOIP monitor plugin. Does anyone know if the new VOIP monitor plugin assists in setting up the SLA on the source/destination devices (like CW) or do you have to set it up manually and then point WUG to it?
thanks

| Hi, Sandeep.
The IP SLA configuration is separate from the VoIP Monitor configuration. Once devices are configured with IP SLA, the VoIP Monitor configuration utility can detect them and apply the VoIP-specific active and performance monitors to it, but IP SLA does need to be configured on the devices through the device's IOS interface first. |
