Well I've been going at this for a couple weeks now. I've run out of ideas, so I am asking you guys. I searched for a couple days on this forum looking for something even remotely similar to the same problem, I came up empty handed.

After I installed 2006.1 I was getting this error: *see attachment*.

I would have reverted back to my previous install if I had come across it earlier, but it wasn't noticed until pointed out by a client a couple weeks later.

The error in the left pane of the screenshot says this exactly:

**********
An error was encountered while processing your request. (Return to previous page)

If you encounter this error again, please provide the following information to your network administrator to assist in trouble-shooting.

Message:
ERROR [HY000] [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query.

StackTrace:
at System.Data.Odbc.OdbcConnection.HandleError(HandleRef hrHandle, SQL_HANDLE hType, RETCODE retcode) at System.Data.Odbc.OdbcCommand.ExecuteReaderObject(CommandBehavior behavior, String method) at System.Data.Odbc.OdbcCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at Ipswitch.Web.Mail.WgsContactSource..ctor(IUser user) at Ipswitch.Web.Client.ContactTree.ProcessContactFolders(IUser user) at Ipswitch.Web.Client.ContactTree.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.AddedControl(Control control, Int32 index) at System.Web.UI.ControlCollection.Add(Control child) at Infragistics.WebUI.UltraWebListbar.UltraWebListbar.CreateChildControls() at System.Web.UI.Control.EnsureChildControls() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain()
**********

Things I've tried to do to fix this:

-Researched error and came up with it being a 'not enough access' problem, so I messed with permissions and ended up giving full privileges to IUSR_ account and ASPNET account on entire IMAIL directory.
-Re-install 2006.1 ontop of existing installation.

If anyone has any other suggestions feel free to enlighten me.
Is it possible to reinstall an older version of ICS if I already have 2006.1 on there?

Any help at all is appreciated.

Thanks,
Vince

This would be a browser compatanility issue. As we know, ICS2006.1 supports IE 5.5 or Higher edition or Mozizza web browser. Ask the user to try to open the same page on Mozilla fire fox.

I dont see how it could be a browser problem. We were running an old version of Imail. It eventually would lock up every few days so I decided to drop the coin on the latest and greatest.

After the install it took a few tweaks to get it working. Now only 1 of the 5 users can get into web messaging. The other 4 sees this. Same computer, trying different browsers - some users work - some dont.

Was your install for 2006.1 an upgrade? or a new install?

If it was an upgrade, did you run the wgscvt.exe?  There was a change in the workgroupshare database.

Jonno,

It seems there is a problem with your WGS database, is it possible for you to email your database to us for review?

Also, it is possible that our new release which is available to download for all current license holders will fix your problem.

regarding this error: "An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again." in asp.net membership

well its simple if you know the answer:

Open your IIS

right click "Default Web Site" and choose "Asp.net" tab

press "Edit Global Configuration"

in "General" tab press "Add" button

in the "Name" Field Type: LocalSqlServer

in the "Connection parametrs" field type:

data source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true

and Voila, its working.
