| | I've just downloaded the Home version. Tried to tidy up my web site, and I get the following error message CWD /htdocs5 50 OK. Current directory is /htdocs RMD cornwall 550 Can't remove directory: Directory not empty
I have already set options to "Allow non-empty folders to be deleted", but it still won't let me. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong. Thanks

| did you create the htdocs folder ???? because if it was put there by your host then you would not have permissions set to delete it .....

| | Hi Its a good question, the htdocs is a system directory, so you are right I can't delete it. However it was a subdirectory I was trying to delete - I was in the htdocs directory, and the command was "RMD cornwall". However just to be on the safe side, I did go to the cornwall directory and try deleting one level below. I got the same error message. CWD /htdocs/cornwall 250 OK. Current directory is /htdocs/cornwall RMD pages 550 Can't remove directory: Directory not empty I then tried deleting another non-empty directory and succeeded. So I've asked my web space provider why I can't delete that directory. Thanks

| Hi everyone, I can't find the button to post a new topic, so I chose this one as being some what close to my problem. I emailed support and they told me that my support expired last month and I would have to renew at $30? That hardly seems fair for a software problem so I'm hoping some one here can help me with my WSFTP Home currant version.
JPG WS Thumbnails will not refresh on the server, even when I hit the refresh button in WS and F5 with no luck.
I uploaded some jpgs and then later changed the names of some of these same image files locally. I deleted the files on the sever and uploaded the new files that had the same name as the old ones. WS generated the old thumb nails associated with the original file names instead of making new ones.
Also, If I up load a new jpg it makes the thumnail and all is fine. If I then change the jpg locally, or if I rename a different jpg to the original name, and then upload it and over write the original one, it replaces the uploaded jpg, but the thumbnail in WSFTP is not updated, even if I hit the refresh button in WS or F5. The only way I can get WS to update the thumb on line is to rename it, then rename it back to the original name on line.
Please help, as I have hidden pictures on line now... I can't tell what I actually have with out opening each one as the thumbs are not reliable.

| | Colin....you will not be able to delete the htdocs folder because you did not create it (as you say it is a system folder put there by your host) ... which would mean you can't delete subfolders either.... JPG WS Thumbnails will not refresh on the server, even when I hit the refresh button in WS and F5 with no luck. I also had this exact problelm ... not only with the names but the display image also, where the name was the same but the image was different ... my solution was to delete the IpsThumb.db file on both remote and local side (not sure if you have to do it on the local side) then re-uploaded the images, hit the referesh button....worked for me...

| Thanks, Paul... not a very good design, if that is a software problem, I would think?
I found that if I rename the file with the wrong thumb that does an actual thumb refresh, then I have to rename it back to it's original name. But, unless you know what files are incorrectly indicated by the thumb, this is absurd. I can't believe Ipswitch hasn't caught this problem.. or maybe it's a corruption of the program and I need to reinstall it? I don't know.
The Ipswitch tech response was not helpful, wanting we to shell out more money for a program I bought just over a year ago. I replied with the question of whether it might be a corrupted program or if it is a common problem that they know about as a software bug, the answer I just got was, no answers unless you shell out more money for tech support.. that's really a shame, as this is the best FTP program I have found, except for the thumbnail bug!!!
BTW, how do I start a new thread on this forum.. I can't find a button for "New Topic" am I blind? |

| | I get three buttons on the top left of this thread 'add reply', 'add topic' and 'add poll' .... so, I would suggest 'add topic' would be the one you want ... at the start of this 'forum' I have 'add topic' and 'add poll' ... like I said, I just delete the ipsthumb.db file and everything works fine ... its a bit of a hassel but hey not everything is perfect in life ... as far as the tech support thing goes with the $$$ first before they give you an answer ... sure it sucks, thats why were here on this forum .... I try to answer the questions I can with my little experience , FREE of charge ... thats the price for coming to this forum ... so, I will just charge you $0 and if you complain about the price, I will charge you double ...
kind regards, Paul C. Beugeling

| | Hi Now heard from my web space provider. The permissions for that directory needed resetting. That was why I couldn't delete the directory. It was nothing to do with WS_FTP. They re-set them and I managed to delete what I wanted fine. Thanks anyway guys for the help & input. Colin

| Thanks, Paul. I think yesterday, because I had just joined the forum the buttons weren't showing, I I've got the buttons this morning so will start a thread on this.. don't know if any of their techs visit here, but maybe I'll get lucky.
As to charging, I will pay you doubble your $00.00 if you can find a solution. My only point was that if this is a software glitch, that they know about, support should not be charged for the solution or work around, it should be posted in their FAQ section.. it isn't right to charge for software support in situations like that, IMHO. |
