Hello to all!

I am new to IMail, ICS, and IM Server so my problem list is dwindling.

I have IM installed however none of the clients can connect (Logon attemp 1, Logon attempt 2, ...)

The IMail Server is working great!  Users can login, download email and access Web Mail.  The IM Server is setup to use the IMail DB however, none of the users show up in the Users window.  I have tried setting up their own IM DB but that too does not work.  I have also uninstalled and rebooted the server SEVERAL times and then re-installed.

I even went to the IPSwitch support pages but they are not working quite right yet.  IM searches are still being directed toward ICS issues.

Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks in advance!

Buddy

Are you using the fully qualified domain name after the username and not simply using the username?

EX.  username@im.domain.com

If you've noticed, there's nowhere to put a server address in, so the client software uses this to define the server.

We are having a similar problem.  Most of our users can log in, but some can not.  There is no difference in their login, most are on the local network.  Everyone is logging in as user name@computername.domain.com  I am confused as to why most can log in and a few can not.

Any help would be most appreciated.

I have the same problem

My domains official nam is mail.daomain.com

but I have alias for each domain like domain.com

In the IM admin I select to use may imail server user database and I add the alias.

So this is already a problem as if each user where diffrent.

------------------------------

So I eliminated the use of the alias. Sitll I loose conversations form out side users form our network. I have tried the permissions on the firewall, for the ports

IM Sever - Client CXN      5177

IM Sever - Server Answer  5178

--------------------------------

So my problem is to convice MSN users to use our messenger as they dont have that many problems.

-------------------------------

Its also very slow to talk to users outside our network, if we finally manage to talk back.
